PLEASE NOTE: Ian offers some appointments that may not show on the online booking system. For example, he can see you some Saturday mornings. Please email/message us to enquire, its no trouble 🙂

Ian was born in Guernsey in 1979 and raised locally attending Castel primary school and then Elizabeth College. On leaving college, he worked in the finance sector for a number of years to help fund his passion for travel which has taken him to all corners of the globe, normally with some kind of board strapped to his feet. Later on, Ian worked outside the finance sector, working at Specsavers Optical Group as well as seeking a change outside the office.

Although he had an interest in manual therapy at a much younger age, having seeked out treatment due to his active lifestyle and jobs, it wasn’t until he was travelling with an Osteopath who needed help with an injury that he decided to go back to study and the rest is history. Ian graduated with an Integrated Masters Degree in Osteopathy from the prestigious European School of Osteopathy in Maidstone, Kent in 2013.

Since graduating, he has worked at several multi-disciplinary clinics within the island, now working part time again at Rebalance after spending the last year working in Alberta, Canada at a multi-disciplinary clinic situated next to the great Canadian Rocky Mountains.

Ian enthusiastically commits to the health and well-being of his patients. He finds it a great joy to spend time with people and support them in the physical challenges they face. He always tries to adapt treatment and management plans to the individual’s needs and preferences placing a huge emphasis on patient education and self management between sessions. He uses a wide range of techniques that were included in his training including muscle and connective tissue stretching, rhythmic joint movement, soft tissue release techniques and some joint manipulation. He is also trained in Kinesio taping methods, medical dry needling techniques and will most likely place a focus on getting you off the treatment couch getting you moving and actively rehabbing.

Ian has treated patients from all walks of life, including children right through to the older generation, and feels his experience in the different job sectors Guernsey has to offer helps him to relate to people very easily and his time working overseas as a Watersports instructor has helped him to interact with people naturally and keep people positive at all times, even when people doubt themselves.

Outside of work, Ian is a keen outdoor enthusiast and an original water baby which he puts down to his parents teaching him to swim at a young age as well as growing up by the beach. You can normally find him surfing down at Vazon or harnessing the power of the wind around the island on his kite. Ian recently returned from living and working away in Canada where he enjoyed the mountains and time on the water amongst the many huge lakes on offer there. In summer, Ian prefers a more relaxed approach and can usually be found at the beach exploring the island on his Stand Up Paddle board. He has a particular interest in helping people of all ages and walks of life to actively move better  and therefore live better. Through his only personal experience, he is well versed in how to keep the 'weekend warriors' amongst you injury free and enjoying their hobbies for the long term!

Feel free to contact Ian directly through his facebook page ‘Active Osteo’ or via the Rebalance website

Ian looks forward to seeing you all…
