Ian was born in Guernsey in 1979 and raised locally attending Castel primary school and then Elizabeth College.
On leaving college, he worked in the finance sector for a number of years to help fund his passion for travel which has taken him to all corners of the globe, normally with some kind of board strapped to his feet. Later on Ian worked outside the finance sector, working at Specsavers Optical Group as well as seeking a change outside the office before going back to study.
Although he had an interest in manual therapy at a much younger age, having sought out treatment due to his active lifestyle and jobs, it wasn’t until he was travelling with a fellow Osteopath who needed help with an injury that he decided to go back to study and the rest is history. Ian graduated with an Integrated Masters Degree in Osteopathy from the prestigious European School of Osteopathy in Maidstone in Kent in 2013. Since graduating, he has worked at several multi-disciplinary clinics within the island and still provides treatment sessions at the Chiropractic Massage Clinic in Bosq lane.
Ian enthusiastically commits to the health and well-being of his patients. He finds it a great joy to spend time with people and support them in the physical challenges they face. He always tries to adapt treatment and management plans to the individual’s needs and preferences placing a huge emphasis on patient education and self management between sessions. He has a big interest in the body's natural ‘functional' movement and is keen to help you explore this getting you moving better, pain free as well as preventing further injury. He uses a wide range of techniques that were included in his training including muscle and connective tissue stretching, rhythmic joint movement, gentle release techniques and joint manipulation if needed.
Ian has treated patients from all walks of life, including children right through to the very elderly, and feels his experience in the different job sectors Guernsey has to offer helps him to relate to people very easily and his time working overseas as a kite-surf instructor has helped him to interact with people naturally and keep people motivated at all times.
Outside of work, Ian is a keen outdoor enthusiast and an original water baby which he puts down to his parents teaching him to swim at a young age as well as growing up on the west coast. You can normally find him surfing down at Vazon or harnessing the power of the wind around the island on his kite.
